Constantly Hungry, High Carbs & Skin Health

How are these 3 related?  It is all about stress and cortisol!  Or should we call it “Pandemic Cravings”?
Usually, uncontrollable hunger hits after a stressful situation because of the hormone cortisol.  Cortisol triggers extreme hunger as a mechanism to increase blood sugar and supply energy in preparation for more stress, generating a vicious cycle.  High cortisol also triggers cravings for highly pleasurable foods, plus stress activates energizing neurotransmitters such a dopamine, which is associated with reward-driven eating.   And now are in trouble 😱
So I wanted to share a couple of tips that helps me to curb “bad foods”cravings, because that reflects directly on the skin, specially processed carbs and sugars.
1. Glutamine (powder).  I like to mix a shot of whipped cream and 1 or 2 grams (1/2 teaspoon) of glutamine before eating or when cravings show up.  Glutamine is a superior nutrient  that eliminate obsessive thoughts about food because it is used as an energy source for the brain. Bonus: Glutamine helps tremendously with our gut 😃.  High glutamine foods are beef, chicken, eggs, spinach, and cabbage.
2. Magnesium at night.  Magnesium is a mineral that helps with insulin sensitivity and I find it that helps me to sleep much better.  It is a supplement that I have been taking for many years and I love it.
Cutting on sugars and managing stress is key to clear up our skin, plus you will feel and look better.
