Reveal your best skin: Winter’s moisture-zapping power can lead to dull, flaky skin. Grace Gutierrez, owner of True Grace Skin Care, a day Spa in Newport Beach, California, says the best defense is to exfoliate your body with a sugar-based scrub once a week. Avoid scrubbing sensitive areas such a décolletage and the back of the arms if you suffer from keratosis pillars (acne like bumps caused by clogged hair follicles). For the face, Gutierrez likes using a nongranular exfoliant. “Aggressive exfoliation can cause tiny tears that you can’t see with the naked eye. They open the door to bacteria and, subsequently, blemishes and irritation”, she explains.
